Biography
Plant physiologist, B. Schoefs graduated from the Botany Department at the Liège University, Belgium in 1994. He worked for the Liège University, the South Bohemia University, the CNRS. He became Professor in Plant Physiology at the University of Dijon, France. In 2011, he joined the University of Le Mans, France. He is the leader of the ‘Metabolism and engineering of microalgal molecules and applications’ research group. He has published more than 70 papers, edited books, monographies and special issues. He is a member of the editorial board of Frontiers in Plant Science, Communicative and Integrative Biology and Botany Letters. He won the Prize Clos from the Toulouse Academy of Sciences, France and the annual scientific competition of the Belgian Academy of Science.
Research Interest
His research is focuses on the physiological (photosynthesis, respiration), biochemical (carbon metabolism, pigments) and molecular responses (transcription factors) of photosynthetic organisms, including algae, to biotic or abiotic stresses.
